Radha Bhawan – Bellevue with green Vincent Hill, Mussoorie, Uttarakhand

Built in the year 1871, Radha Bhawan is one of the earliest and largest estates in the area. It was associated with the exile of Afghan Amir Mohammad Yaqub Khan. This once prestigious property is abandoned due to dispute and hence in a state of distress.

The church was established in Molungyimsen near the town Tuli, in the 19th century by the first American Missionary family, Rev. Dr. Edward Winter Clark & Mrs. Mary Mead Clark of Molung Mission Centre, with an intention to spread education in the Naga Hills. The church was in a dilapidated state and recently demolished.

The temple in laterite stone construction is located in a market place in Joypur Block, Bankura District. It is one of the rare structures that is believed to be from the pre-Islamic period. Though it is taken care of by local traders, vegetation growth and neglect put this structure at risk.

Located on Ramanujganj road, near the Police Control room at Ambikapur. Built in 1942 CE, it was the first animal hospital of Surguja. The building is still functioning; however, it shows signs of deterioration. There is also a new construction near the building.

Located in Colaba area of Mumbai, these textile mills are abandoned and lie in an advanced state of decay. This was the only mill in South Bombay during the 1870s. It was closed in 1982 amidst a year-long textile mill strike. After an unexpected fire, it has been closed. It has been used for shoots for movies and commercials. It is believed by many that the premises are haunted.

Located near Vijayapura Bus Stand. Built in 1687 CE, Jod Gumbaz complex is a living built heritage site (a complex with religious activities). The tombs on site are protected by ASI. However, a lot of development activities provided for the incoming pilgrims are not congruent with the character of its built environment. The complex needs a development plan which not only integrates the amenities required for the people but also for its better preservation.

Heritage Bungalows Tinsukia District, Assam

There are many historic bungalows situated in Tipong, Ledo, Margherita towns in Tinsukia district. They are under Coal India and are in a dilapidated condition. Most of these bungalows are associated with World War II, such as a stilted bungalow at Margherita where Lord Mountbatten resided, and which is in dire need of proper conservation. The adaptive reuse of these heritage bungalows as guest houses or heritage hotels can cater to the accommodation requirements for visitors.
